Week 4: Set construction

Building the set took me about two days including collecting the materials. I collected twigs of various sizes to form the base of the tree like structures that would give the set a sense of depth. I also needed to make a mountain like form for Blu to sit upon made from tin trays and hanging basket materials. All of these were then coved in cotton wool and then fluffed up.

For the sake of transportation I made the floor and the 'trees' and mountain separate so the assembled at uni were I would be shooting this with the help of a friend Gareth Fient, acting as camera man, and DOP

I was taking pictures in order to see the set thought the camera. I am planning for the final shoot to be shot on a macro lens so these photos won't be a great precursor to what I hope to achieve but I am happy with the forms I have created and how they will look on camera.

I also planned out my first shot, again in order to gage the look of the set though camera, basically using the camera as a view finder. In the original animatic the audience is meant to see the top of the mountain under the arch but that may be hard to do so on the shoot a pan up over the arch may be a better solution.
